Broadcasting cooperation strengthened along Belt and Road

BEIJING - A total of 24 radio and television entities from countries along the Silk Road EconomicBelt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road on Monday inked a memorandum on broadcastcooperation.

The countries include ChinaCambodiaKazakhstanMongoliaNepalSri Lanka and Tajikistan.

Cooperation will feature visits by institution leadersand programskills and personnel exchange.

China encourages media cooperation along the Belt and Roadand called for the creation of acollaboration mechanismsaid Wu Shangzhidirector of the State Administration of Press,PublicationRadioFilm and Television.

"Audiences will be exposed to varied culture and newsand increase understanding throughbroadcasting cooperation," Wu said.

Proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative aims to revivethe ancient trade routes between Asia and Europebreak infrastructure bottlenecks and boostefficient allocation of resources.
